Chief Mrs. Dorcas Kokumo Akinbohun was born in 1933 into the family of Chief Joseph Gbakinro, the Balogun of Baptist Church, and Mrs. Gbefe Gbakinro. She attended Baptist Primary School and St Mary’s Girls School, Ondo.
In 1955, she married Chief Akindinnola Akinbohun, the Salotun of Ile-Oluji Kingdom, alias Baba Liwaya (deceased). She is the only surviving wife of Baba Liwaya who had four wives. Her husband worked as a Post Master at the Post Office. Due to the nature of his job, Mama Dorcas travelled with him to several places including Ondo, Owo, Lokoja, etc. Baba Liwaya died in January 1985.
Chief Mrs. Dorcas Kokumo Akinbohun celebrated her 90th birthday on April 23, 2023, in Ile-Oluji. In an exclusive interview with Ile-Oluji Times, she expressed delight in being alive to celebrate the day, adding that God has indeed been good to her and her family. According to her, every moment of her life has been unforgettable because God has been kind and faithful to her.
She advised the younger generation that they should never give up on being successful. “They should stay focused on their education, career, or business, and they should stay out of trouble of any kind’, she added.
Chief Mrs. Dorcas Akinbohun said things were more peaceful and in good order when she was growing up in Ile-Oluji than today.
